Weekend Workshop - Friday

This is a discussion-based class led by LittleTerror06 from The Christchurch Rope Group (CRG).

All experience levels are welcome and we encourage experienced rope bottoms to attend in order to share knowledge, experiences and different perspectives (switches, self tiers and all people in rope/PIR are welcome)*

Whether your brand new to rope, never been tied but are curious or spend more time tied up than not, we all have in common the need to advocate for our own needs, wants and safety in rope.
In this class we will look at a variety of different factors that contribute to "knowing yourself" as a rope bottom/PIR and to use this knowledge to get the most out of your play, learning and overall rope journey.

While this class is bottom-focused, tops are welcome to attend- I'm sure it will be great learning for anyone interested or involved in rope.

There will be a variety of tools and resources (handouts) available for those that like to use written formats or visual prompts as part of their rope negotiations

  • Event type: Rope workshop
  • Date: 6th March
  • Time: 7-9pm
  • Location: Altitude Pole Studio
  • Cost: $80
  • Dress code: Comfortable attire that allows for movement.

Weekend Workshop - Saturday

This class will be run by @Stamper1969 and @LittleTerror06 from CRG (Christchurch Rope Group)

CRG beginner classes teach the fundamentals of Japanese rope bondage (frictions/knots) as well as the basics of safety, negotiation and consent- everything you need to get started on your rope journey for both tops and bottoms. We also show you simple ways to connect with your partner while tying and practical uses for the ties during play.

This workshop is inclusive for all, and designed for those who are brand new to rope. It is easier if you have a partner but if not, come along anyway- you may be able to tie some of the ties on yourself or pair up with another unpartnered learner (not guaranteed though). This will need to be negotiated yourselves.

Guidelines:

You MUST be able to tie a single column tie to attend this workshop
• All people tying are expected to have safety shears on their person (you can borrow some to use during class)
• Photos are taken only by express consent of all people in the shot, and remain the property of all parties involved. The location must not be identifiable in the pic and please ensure you crop out any other people in the background
• Active consent is required when touching another's rope work or people in rope. Instructors will ask permission before touching you or the rope if necessary to assist your learning
• Clothing is required at all times. Nudity or underwear/lingerie are not permitted. Clothing appropriate for the gym or a yoga class etc is most suitable
• Please be mindful of others attending the class or using the space and keep noise and use of space to a minimum
• We reserve the right to call a halt to any rope bondage that is perceived to be unsafe, or breaking consent in any way

Weekend Rope Workshop - Sunday

This class will be run by @Stamper1969 and @LittleTerror06 from CRG (Christchurch Rope Group)

Perfect for rope switches, riggers and rope bottoms wishing to expand their knowledge, skill and understanding of hardpoint and upline safety, risk analysis and best practice techniques.

This workshop is a hands-on class covering everything from hardpoints (what you are suspending from) to locking off an upline and all that's in between.

There will be tips for using different suspension equipment e.g ring, bamboo, caribiners, vertical posts, 3D rigging plates etc as well as different lock-offs suitable for each.

We aim to teach the "why" as well as the "how" of standard best practice techniques in order for folx to make informed decisions around risk profile and safety considerations for all forms of suspension rope bondage.

The knowledge and skills taught in this workshop can be applied to full or partial suspension, self suspension, predicament rope as well as other types of bondage or restraint e.g tying wrists to a hardpoint for impact play, tying off to a bed/other furniture etc.

You do not need to be currently tying at suspension level or even intend to do so in the future to gain something from this workshop.
The knowledge and skills will help you make better informed decisions and assess the safety of hardpoints and uplines.
